SBC Futurist Lies Exposed?

Scarborough Borough Council (SBC) recently made a planning application to itself to demolish the Futurist Theatre on Foreshore Road. Planning application 17/01714/RG3 can be accessed here. SBC stated:

The condition of the Futurist building has also been previously reported to Members and the building continues to deteriorate which is of concern.

The 2012 condition survey noted the generally poor condition of the building and identified the need to spend a minimum of £2.7 million on the Theatre, which would include for refurbishment and reinstatement of structure and finishes plus a new ventilation system, but contained no allocations for any improvements to the general facilities.

A contractor who was working inside the Futurist during August 2017 recorded the following video:

The video plainly shows that the Futurist is not in a poor condition nor is it unsafe. Scarborough Borough Council appear to be telling the local taxpayer a pack of lies regarding the condition of The Futurist.

Are Senior Officers and Tory Councillors wilfully misusing their positions to demolish a building which is in no way unsafe nor in a poor condition at a cost of £4million to the local taxpayer, all for the benefit of a Tory donor?

Perhaps the council will now back up their apparently wild claims with some actual physical evidence? Perhaps the Overview and Scrutiny Committee will get involved?
