As the ‘double-dipping’ row kicks off in earnest, Codhead homes in on Councillor Brian Simpson, the renowned ‘floor-walker’.

‘Floor-walker’ is the epithet applied to any Councillor who switches allegiance from one political party to another in accordance with perceived prospects of re-election. There is historically a high incidence of ‘floor-walking’ by Councillors whose only apparent source of income is their Council Allowances and Expenses. Similarly – and as CodHead has been quick to recognise – Councillors who are ‘only in it for the money’ are unlikely to have missed out on the opportunity to draw Broadband Allowances from both County and Borough Councils – as Councillor Brian Simpson has done.
