Those who have taken an interests in the difficulties faced by inhabitants of the village of Botton in the Esk Valley should be very grateful to the Private Eye magazine for its superb coverage of behind-the-scenes events that have entirely escaped the attentions of the local rags.

The latest edition includes a letter to the Eye from a Botton inhabitant who feels so intimidated that she/he has found it necessary to write under a nom de plume. That does not detract in any way from the obvious sincerity of her/his letter:
