The name of the developer for the Futurist site, preferred by the Conservative majority on Scarborough Borough Council, has today been revealed by the council. The council’s preferred bidder, known only as Bidder B thus far, is Kirby Misperton based theme park and zoo operator Flamingo Land Limited.
Flamingo Land Limited in conjunction with the council, want to demolish the Futurist Theatre on Foreshore Road in Scarborough and replace it with what has been termed a ‘Magical Cave’. The developer also wants public land, part of St Nicholas Gardens, to be gifted to them as part of their development.
Gordon Gibb, the owner of Flamingo Land, has long eyed building a large development in Scarborough:
“We have been talking with the council for a number of years to see if there were any areas of major development to help them with.”
A check of the Electoral Commission web site reveals that in January this year Flamingo Land donated £25,000 to the Conservative Party. This appears to be the only donation made by Flamingo Land to any Political Party.
A further check of the Electoral Commission web site reveals that one ‘Gordan Gibb’ also made a £25,000 personal donation to the Conservative Party on the same day.
It would appear that ‘Gordan Gibb’ is actually Gordon Gibb, the owner of Flamingo Land Limited. This appears to be the only donation made by Gordan/Gordon Gibb to any Political Party.
It appears that the Scarborough & Whitby Conservative Party have sorted their election expenses for May 2015.
