Whitby Town Council has sent a letter of commendation to three local campaigners, in recognition of their services to the town.
The letter, dated 19th April 2011, was sent to Tom BRODRICK, Nigel WARD, and Mrs Doreen WORT, and reads:
At a recent meeting of the Town Council members asked that their thanks are expressed to all those involved in the recent campaign for the East and West Pier Lighthouses for all their time and effort in ensuring that responsibility for the maintenance and preservation of these iconic structures is carried out. The responsibility has now been acknowledged and the Town Council are continuing to press for a joint meeting of interested parties.
