Kill TTIP Now!

September 23, 2014 Letters

A Letter to the Editor from Chris GALLACHER, who writes in confirmation of the vital importance of resisting the Transatlantic Trade & Investment Partnership. The Enquirer welcomes interest in this topic; we have now published two Letters on the subject – one from a Green candidate – Amanda SMITH – and one from a UKIP candidate. That is good, because it is an issue that transcends national or party political boundaries; it cuts to the root of the engineered polarization between the rich and the 99%.

Dear Editor,

I would like to make all of your readers aware of yet another massive reason to leave the EU. As if we did not have more than enough. I am talking about the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership something I have been aware of for a while. Many of you will not have heard of it, which is all part of the plan being engineered between the EU and US.

This is meant to be a trade deal, but like many of these deals it has the intention of squeezing the poor and disadvantaged and keeping wages and working conditions very low. Although talked about as a tariff reduction process, that I am afraid, is just a smoke screen for big business to make a killing at all of our expense.

You might think it not important because your politicians have not brought it to your attention, with the exception UKIP. For all those like me who value our institutions like the NHS it is a wake up call to protect them. This trade deal, if it goes through, will undermine all that we hold dear and will make this country more and more beholden to big powerful business.

If you do not wish this to happen read the recent letter on the topic online at www.facebook.Redcar1 or www.nyequirer.uk , by Amanda Smith. It will open your eyes and you, like me, will be horrified at the potential damage that could be done to everyone in this country. We should be hearing about it from our elected representatives but they sadly seem to be in bed with big business.

Regards, etc.

Chris Gallacher TD

UKIP Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Redcar . 23rd September, 2014.
