APPEAL TO POTENTIAL WHISTLEBLOWERS

In the four years since the North Yorks Enquirer was established to provide detailed investigation and reportage of public institutions in our area, many of our exposés have relied on ‘inside’ information provided by public servants of good conscience and a well-developed sense of civic responsibility – often risking their positions, livelihood and pensions in the process.

It is a sad reflection on our society that those with the best of intentions are unable to accept public recognition of their selfless actions.

Nevertheless, the Enquirer and the Council Taxpayers owe them an immeasurable debt of collective gratitude:

Thank you all!

We have always respected the confidentiality of whistleblowers, whether victims of the horrendous crimes of Jimmy SAVILE and Peter JACONELLI or ‘humble’ personnel of our public authorities who have ‘earwigged’ inappropriate conversations or photographed ‘sensitive’ documents – and done the right thing.

Readers who populate our public authorities, either as elected representatives or members of staff, can be assured that the Enquirer will NEVER reveal whistleblowers’ identities under any circumstances.

Information evidencing wrongdoing will be diligently investigated and made public, in the public interest, without the identity of the source EVER being disclosed.
