It is always a pleasure to see the nation’s premier exposeur of disgraceful conduct in public life – the Private Eye magazine – confirm and widely publicise the transgressions of North Yorkshire ‘personalities’ falling short of acceptable standards.

This time (the twenty-ninth), the Eye has singled out Deputy Chief Constable Phil CAIN of the North Yorkshire Police for the non-essential journeys he actually bragged about on Twitter.

Of course, DCC CAIN was not the only transgressor – Enquirer crime correspondent TIM HICKS is presently running Formal Complaints against both CAIN and his only superior (in this force), Chief Constable Lisa WINWARD, who is surely looking forward to a future insertion. Hopefully, that will compensate for the shortage of freebie junkets this year (due to the COVID-19 pandemic). No doubt there will be more to come on the subject of questionable ‘essential journeys‘ . . .
