Brexit Vote Letter to Robert Goodwill

January 15, 2019 Misc

Dear Mr Goodwill,

On the 19th November I wrote you a letter imploring you to read the detail surrounding May’s thoroughly disingenuous, deceitful and unpatriotic European Union Withdrawal Agreement (WA)’. I note that you continue to support the WA proposed by your party leader and UK Prime Minister Theresa May.

As a lot of people have begun to realise, the WA does not deliver Brexit in any way, shape of form. In fact, the ‘Withdrawal Agreement’ does the polar opposite and binds us even more tightly to the EU, a pertinent fact not being communicated by government controlled media operations.

On 23rd June 2016 we were asked to vote on ‘Leaving The European Union’ or ‘Remaining in The European Union’. Leave won the vote and the UK Govt should have started to implement the promise stated in the Govt referendum leaflet to ‘implement what you decide’.

Instead of planning to implement the vote, the UK Govt decided to concoct a plan to keep the UK inside the European Union. It decided to create another Single Market and Customs Union, fully controlled by a Committee, which is ultimately controlled the EU.

Whilst the Prime Minister May continuously asserts the WA will enable us to take back control of our borders, our laws and our money, the text of the Withdrawal Agreement shows the deal to be the polar opposite of what May states. The WA delivers none of the advantages of Brexit.

We are now in a situation where a single Parliamentary vote will eternally chain the UK to Brussels.

Your support for May’s deal shows you to be on the wrong side of history. You must reconsider your position on the WA. For the good of UK democracy this deal needs to be strangled immediately.

Yours sincerely,
Tim Thorne
