No-one is impressed by independent Councillors Dorothy Clegg and Sandra Turner jumping ship to the Conservatives, nicely in time for the coming election – least of all CodHead. In the event, old Dolly crept back in by a mere 33 votes – though no-one doubts that, without the Tory election machine, she would have lost out to Noreen Wilson (Lab.).
Councillor Penny Marsden was another defection to the Tories, just eight weeks before the election.
