WTC: Meetings Cancelled

The Whitby Town Council meeting of Full Council scheduled for this evening, Tuesday 5th August 2025 at 6:00pm, has been cancelled at short notice, purportedly on grounds of the unavailability of the Town Clerk/RFO, Mr Adam CHUGG, who is understood to have embarked on an unscheduled three-week long ‘sabbatical’.
There is apparently much speculation amongst Councillors as to whether or not this ‘sabbatical’ was triggered by the Clerk/RFO’s extreme displeasure at being subjected to what he describes as “trial by email”. Certainly, the Agenda itself for the cancelled meeting would not appear to have included anything unexpectedly contentious:
This cancellation falls hard on the heels of the mysterious cancellation, also at extremely short notice, of the Extraordinary Meeting scheduled for last Wednesday, 30th July 2025, when Councillors were expecting to consider the conduct of a then-member:
