The NYE’s Police 7 articles are intended to be a one-stop shop for our readers covering crime prevention advice, court reports, police appeals for assistance, local community policing news, information on victim support, updates from the North Yorkshire Police (NYP) and the Police Fire and Crime Commissioner (PFCC) for North Yorkshire and the Coroner.
We lead these articles with a photograph of the late Shaw Taylor, as a tribute to him. Shaw was a groundbreaking forensic journalist, who pioneered police media appeals for information in the program Police 5. His work led to the successful conclusion of many cases in the UK, Europe and the United States through local programmes that followed the pioneering format of his original program Police 5 in 1962.

Court Reports
A York man has been jailed for over five years for sexual activity with a teenage girl and refusing to provide a log-in information for his mobile phone.
Marcus Lee Noble, 26, of Thornton Road, York, was sentence at York Crown Court on 11 July. It followed an investigation into the sexual abuse of an underage teenage girl when Noble was 23.
Noble denied the allegations throughout the investigation and put his young victim through the ordeal of a Crown Court trial, but was found him guilty of three counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity and one charge of failing to disclose a password/pin contrary to Section 49 of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act.
Detective Constable Marcus Furneaux-Harris, of York and Selby CID, said:
“The victim in this case has shown maturity and mental strength beyond her years when telling police what had happened to her, in how she has coped with the length of the investigation, and especially when giving her evidence at court.
No teenage girl should ever have to go through this, especially at the hands of a grown man who has lied from the beginning of the investigation. Noble took full advantage of her age and abused her for his own sexual gratification.
The victim’s family have provided vital and constant support throughout her ordeal and I hope the sentence helps her in some way to moving forward with her life.
If you are a survivor of abuse, please be assured that the police are here for you, irrespective of when that abuse occurred. It is never too late to tell us, we are here, and we will listen.”
