Scarborough Parking Re-Set

Scarborough Parking Re-Set

  • an “In My View” article by NIGEL WARD, following up on his recent article “Whitby Parking Blunder” (highlighting enforcement problems at the Church Street Long Stay Car Park in Whitby). A reader has provided photographic evidence of a necessary correction – not in Whitby, but at Scarborough’s West Pier Long Stay Car Park, where the same invalis Tariff issue prevailed. But no longer – there appears to have been a necessary ‘re-set’.

~~~~~
A regular reader has kindly provided a photo (see above) of the Parking Tariff signage at Scarborough’s West Pier Long Stay Car Park .
Taken in late August 2023, the photo clearly evidenced precisely the same blunder described in my article “Whitby Parking Blunder” (published on Monday 27th November 2023) – in consequence of which PCN notices (‘parking fines’) stood to be unenforceable.
The following photo of the Parking Tariff signage at Scarborough’s West Pier Long Stay Car Park (taken on Wednesday 29th November 2023 (two days after publication of my Whitby article) tells a rather different story:
Unlike its predecessor, the Tariff signage now includes prices for the full range of time bands.
I will, of course, share with readers the anticipated email from NYC’s Parking Enforcement Manager, Ms Charlotte GRAYSHON, thanking me profusely for pointing out the problem.
Always happy to be of service.
I can only offer the tentative suggestion that somebody in the Council offices in Scarborough reads the North Yorks Enquirer . . .
This would suggest that the Whitby Church Street Long Stay Car Park Tariff will be updated quite soon. For the moment, it remains unchanged (photo taken Thursday 30th November 2023):
